　　The Most Desirable Personal Qualities

　　Probably no two people would draw up exactly similar lists about the most desirable qualities in a teacher, but I think the following would be generally accepted.

　　First, the teacher‘s personality should be pleasantly lively and attractive. This doesn‘t rule out people who are physically plain, or even ugly, because many such people have great personal charm. But it does rule out those who are over excitable, depressed, unfriendly, sarcastic, or bossy. Second, it‘s not only desirable but essential for a teacher to have a capacity for sympathy—that is, a capacity to understand the feelings of students and a capacity to tolerate mistakes. Third, teachers should be intellectually honest—that is, they should know their own intellectual strengths and limitations. Fourth, every teacher should be a bit of an actor. They should be able to enliven the lessons with imaginative performances that keep students involved. And no matter how many times they have taught the same material or corrected the same mistake, they should never show that they are bored. Fifth, teachers must remain mentally alert. They must be quick to adapt to any situation and be able to improve.

　　Finally, a teacher should always want to go on learning. A teacher who loses his thirst for knowledge will never inspire his students to learn.

　　During my high school years, I have found chemistry, physics, and mathematics interesting. Actually, I am interested in many subjects such as biology, history, geography, Chinese, and English. But somehow I cannot remember the historical events or the facts about geography in detail.

　　I cannot remember biological terms well, either. On the other hand, chemistry, physics, and mathematics are easy for me because they seem logical to me. 　　***Siberian Tiger***

　　The Siberian tiger ***also known as the Amur, Korean, Manchurian, or North China tiger*** is the largest and most powerful subspecies of naturally occurring feline. The Siberian tiger is almost totally confined to a very restricted part of eastern Russia, the Amur-Ussuri region of Primorye and Khabarovsk, a location it shares with the Siberian leopard, where they are now being actively protected. About 10% of Siberian tiger populations reside in China.

　　The tiger population in the Sikhote-Alin was 250 in 1992, increasing to 350 as of 2004, despite significant losses of cubs due to car accidents on the single road that crosses their territory. Illegal poaching has been brought under control thanks to frequent road inspections. It is rumoured that there are still around 20 of these tigers in the Mount Changbai area of China.As the total population of these tigers fell to 150 in the wild, many subpopulations are possibly not genetically viable, subject to potentially catastrophic inbreeding. However, Russian conservation efforts have led to a revival of the subspecies, and the number of individuals in the Primorsky region of Russia has risen from 450 to 500 in the past decade, indicating positive growth.

　　The Siberian tiger can weigh as much as 700lb ***318 kg*** or more. In years past, scientists believed that these cats could weigh up to 800lb ***350 kg***, but that earlier range, which was based largely on the estimates of hunters, is not now generally accepted. Apart from the size, Siberian tigers are differentiated from other tigers by their paler fur and dark brown, rather than black, stripes. Adept hunters, they prey primarily on red deer, wild boar, roe deer, sika deer, and goral, a goatlike animal, but will also take smaller prey like hares, rabbits, and salmon. They have sometimes even been known to kill and eat small Asiatic black bears. Since it is estimated that 85% of a Siberian tiger‘s diet is composed of red deer and wild boar, protecting these and other prey animals from illegal hunting may be just as important to the tiger‘s survival as preventing direct killing of the big cats.Siberian tigers some times cross breeds with Bengal tigers. A white Siberian tiger is usually the result of such cross breeding and it is unsure whether pure white Siberian tigers exist.

　　I had a dream during my childhood. I was eager to become a computer engineer who spent most of his own lifetime with different kinds of programs and circuits. My mother made me very interested in computers when I was young, so I often imagined that I could create inventions to fill people’s life with happiness.

　　If to achieve a dream like that is impossible, I would become interested in math instead of computers. It’s easy to lost oneself in the rapidly growing computer industry, a so-called bubble economy. Compared with that, I want to give myself to the world of math without utilitarianism. A scientist will not be judged by the money he has earned in total.

　　If to achieve a dream like that is impossible, I would hold up my fountain pen and share my attitude towards the world in my articles as a writer.
