Do you vote?
Tom: I don't live in my own country, so I don't get to vote. How about you Jess?
Jess: My situation's the same. I haven't lived in Britain for about five years so in that time I haven't voted but I think if I were in Britain, I would definitely vote. How about you Tom?
Tom: I'd definitely vote. Actually, what I do is we can arrange for my mum to vote on my behalf, so right now my mum has two votes. There was one period a couple of years ago when my sister's were also out of Britain, and they transferred their votes to my mum, and in the election she got to vote four times.
Jess: I didn't know that was possible.
When you hear motherland what comes to mind?
Vitalis: This is Vitalis from Uganda.
David: And my name is David from Kenya.
Vitalis: David, what comes to your mind, when you hear of 'motherland'?
David: A lot comes into my mind. The first thing is where I was born and it reminds me of who gave birth to me. That's my mom who I really love, and the third things that comes into my mind when I hear about motherland is Africa. For me, I'm an African. That's my roots and that's what I relate to so when I hear motherland that's the first, that's one of things that comes to mind. Yeah, I'm proud to be an African.
How is the traffic where you live?
Tom: Jess, we both live in Bangkok.
Jess: Yep.
Tom: We travel around every day. How do you find the traffic here?
Jess: It's pretty awful. Yeah, I think especially on Friday afternoons and at rush hour every day, you can't really take a taxi or travel by car because you can't get anywhere.
Tom: What kind of options are there for traveling around?
Jess: There's motorcycle taxis which I won't take because I think they're too dangerous.
Tom: What do you take?
Jess: I take motorbikes a lot, but I like the choice that we have in Bangkok. There are motorbikes. There's also tuk-tuks, which are kind of three-wheeled cars. There's the skytrain and the subway and taxis and private cars and a whole range of buses. Do you ever take the bus?
Tom: No, I don't take the bus here. I think if I'm going to be stuck in traffic, I'd like to be in an air-conditioned taxi, not in a hot, sweaty bus.
