火星（英語：Mars；拉丁語：Martis；天文符號：♂），是離太陽第四近的行星，也是太陽系中僅次於水星的第二小的行星，為太陽系裡四顆類地行星之一。西方稱火星為瑪爾斯，是羅馬神話中的戰神，也被稱為“紅色星球”；古漢語中則因為它熒熒如火，位置、亮度時常變動讓人無法捉摸而稱之為熒惑。火星上有太陽系已知最大的山奧林帕斯山，最大的峽谷水手號峽谷。 火星大氣以二氧化碳為主，既稀薄又寒冷，遍佈撞擊坑、峽谷、沙丘和礫石，沒有穩定的液態水，南半球是古老、充滿撞擊坑的高地，北半球則是較年輕的低地平原。 2023年5月，國際學術期刊《科學進展》發表了一項火星存在液態水的研究成果。基於“祝融號”火星車觀測資料，中國科研人員首次發現“祝融號”著陸區的沙丘表面存在結殼、龜裂、團粒化、多邊形脊、帶狀水痕等特徵。光譜資料分析發現，沙丘表面富含含水硫酸鹽、蛋白石、含水鐵氧化物等含水礦物。
