My Summer Holiday
July 2 is my grand father's birthday. On that day, all of my families will get together to celebrate his birthday. This year was the same. My uncles and aunt came back from other cities. It was so alive that my grand parents were very happy. This year, I made a surprise for my grand father. I cooked a dish for him. As I never cooked before, he was so surprised as well as exciting. My grand father said that it was the best birthday gift he received. I was glad to make grand father happy. Actually, I had practiced for several days before that day. My mum was my cooking teacher. She supported me to prepare this gift to grand father.
When a very miserly***吝嗇的*** man nicknamed the "stingy ghost" died and went to hell, the Yama King reproached***責斥*** him, saying, "You stingy ghost! When you were alive, you clung hard to everything and wouldn't give to anyone. Even when you saw others in poverty and misery, you refused to offer them help. Also, you didn't take good care of your parents, relatives or friends and let them suffer and starve. For your evil karma***因果報應*** , you'll be dumped into a pot of boiling oil."
The ghost wardens then escorted the man to the pot of boiling oil, and when they arrived, he looked at the pot and said, "Hey! Wait a minute! There's so much oil in it. What a waste! Please drain out the oil, sell it and give me the money. Then, you can simply dump me in a pot of boiling water! There's no need for oil. You're using too much oil to cook one person anyway!"

In the Spring and Autumn Period ***春秋時期,770-476 BC***, there was a beauty in the State of Yue called Xishi ***西施***.
She often suffered from pains in her chest, and so she would often walk around doubled over and with her brows knitted.
There was an ugly girl in the village called Dongshi who envied Xishi.
Striving to emulate Xishi, she imitated her stoop, knitting her brows at the same time.
She thought that this made her elegant, but in fact, it only made her more ugly.
Later, this idiom came to be used to indicate improper imitation that produces the reverseeffect.
