Get out of the library. You can have a degree and a hugeGPA and not be ready for the workplace. A student should plan that college is four years ofexperience rather than 120 credits.

Start a business in your 1***dorm room. It's cheap, Google and Yahoo are dying to buy yourwebsite, and it's better than washing dishes in the 2***cafeteria.

Get involved on campus. When it comes to career succes emotional 3***intelligence—socialskills to read and lead others—gets you farther than knowledge or job 4***competence.

Play a sport. People who play sports earn more money than 5***couch potatoes, and women 6***executives who played sports 7***attribute much of their career success to their athleticexperience. You don't need to be great at sport you just need to be part of a team.

Separate your expectations from those of your parents. Otherwise you wake up and realizeyou're not living your own life.

Try new things that you're not good at. Ditch the superstar mentality that if you don't reach thetop, become president, get an A+, or get promoted to editor-in-chief, then the efforts wereworthless. It's important to learn to enjoy things without getting 8***recognition.

Define success for yourself. Society defines success very narrowly. Rather than defining successas financial gain or 9***accolades, define it in terms of individual interests and personalhappiness.

Make your job search a priority. Jobs do not fall in your lap, you have to chase them. Especially a good one. It's a job to look for a job. Use 10***spreadsheets to track your progress. And plan early.

Take a course in happiness. Happiness study is revolutionizing how we think of psychology, economic and sociology. Preview: Learn to be more optimistic.

Take an acting course. The best actors are actually being their most 11***authentic selves. Youneed to learn to communicate authentically so that people will listen and feel connected.

Learn to give a 12***compliment. The best compliments are specific. Practice on yourprofessors. If you give a good compliment the recipient will think you're smarter: a big payoffin college, but a bigger payoff in the work world.

Use the career center. These people are experts at positioning you in the workforce and theironly job is to get you a job. How can you not love this place? If you find yourself thinking thepeople at your college's career center are idiot it's probably a sign that you really, really don'tknow what you're doing.

Develop a strong sense of self by 13***dissing colleges that reject you. Happy people have a moredurable sense of self and aren't as 14***buffeted by outside events. When bad things happen, don't take it personally. This is how the most successful business people bounce back quicklyfrom setbacks.

Get rid of your perfectionist 15***streak. It is rewarded in college, but it leads to insane jobstress and an inability to feel satisfied with your work.

Work your way through college. Getting involved in student organizations count and so doesfeeding children in 16***Sierra Leone or sweeping floors in the chemistry building. Eachexperience you have can grow into something bigger. A great bullet on the resume for a juniorin college.

Make to-do lists. You can't achieve dreams if you don't have a plan to get there.

While their predecessors have amassed dozens of Nobel prizes and other intellectual accolades, the current crop of undergraduates is focusing on a rather less taxing competition – rear ofthe year.

Female students at the university have submitted risque photographs of their behinds in thehope of clinching the title.

They insist it is innocent fun – and male classmates are quick to agree – but critics haveaccused them of harming the feminist cause and the university's reputation.

The pictures have been sent to independent student website The Tab by women usingpseudonyms and hiding their faces from the camera to protect their identities.

Each gives a brief tongue-in-cheek biography with her photograph. While other students areusing the university library to revise for their impending exams, one going by the name ofMeredith stripped down to her underwear to be pictured on tiptoe taking a book from a shelf.

Bella, who poses in frilly knickers and nude stilettos with her long dark hair tumbling down overa tight-fitting jumper, said: "The trick to looking good in knickers is to wear high heels."

Elizabeth, from Homerton College, whose alumni include actress Cherie Lunghi, claims her "firstsexual thoughts were of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles".

The entrants were found through "word of mouth" at the university and the photos sent inthrough anonymous email accounts.

A university source added: "We can't stop what they're doing but it would be fair to say wedon't approve of it. It is not the kind of image we would want to project."

Male students were generous in their praise, however. Comments posted online included: "High-definition pics from multiple angles would've provided a better comparison."

And "Leila" joined the debate herself, saying: "It's given me a bit of a confidence boost. Idon't think it's got anything to do with feminism really."
