表示許多的英文短語

　　：表示許多、大量含義的英語片語及用法

　　一、修飾可數名詞：

　　 are many people in the park.

　　I have a great many things to do.

　　She bought scores/ dozens of eggs yesterday morning. 2Many a/an,也表“很/許多的+可名單，謂動用單數。

　　Many a young man wants to speak English. 記憶技巧：修飾可數名詞你會發現構成短語的主要名詞many，number，score，dozen本身都是可數的!!

　　二、修飾不可數名詞：

　　e.g.There is a great deal of snow on the ground. A million dollars is a large amount of money to me. 記憶技巧：much，本身不可數;deal，amount都是"量”，沒法量。所以加不可數

　　三、修飾可/不可數名詞均可：

　　1a lot of，lots of，plenty of，a great/large/quantity of，

　　e.g. A lot of/Lots of people可數went swimming yesterday.

　　A lot of/Lots of work不可數 is to be done this week.

　　We have plenty of cakes可數. Take some more.

　　Don't hurry.There is plenty of time不可數.

　　2特別說明a lot.

　　用作名詞，表示“很多，多數”。 He knew a lot about it.

　　用作副詞，修飾形容詞和動詞，表示“非常，相當”。

　　He is feeling a lot better today.他今天感覺好多了。

　　She laughed a lot.她笑得很厲害。

　　3注意a quantity of的謂語動詞。後邊加+不可數名詞時,謂語動詞用單數;後邊加+可數名詞複數，謂動動詞複數。

　　A small quantity of water不可數名詞 is needed.Water是不可數名詞，謂語動詞Be動詞用單數 There are a large quantity of flowers可數名詞 in the garden.Flowers是複數，謂語動詞be動詞用複數形式。

　　4great/large quantities of，不管後邊加不可數名詞還是可數名詞複數，謂動都用複數形式。

　　Large quantities of food are on the table.桌上有大量的食物。

　　記憶技巧：lot，plenty，quantity他們本身自己都是集合名詞，包容性好，所以二者皆可。

　　在英文中，將這些表示“許多，很多”的片語按其用法歸類：

　　一、只能修飾名詞複數形式 many、 a great/good many 、a great/large number of 、scores of、dozens of和quite a few ,這類“許多”修飾作主語的名詞時，謂語動詞用複數

　　eg I‘m quite busy; I have many things to do There are a great/good many English books in our school library.

　　A great number of my friends have been to the Great Wall.

　　Scores/Dozens of people were killed in the accident.許多人在這次事故中喪生

　　I have made quit a few good friends,too.

　　1many 作代詞，表示“許多人，許多”的意思 eg Many of them have watched the TV play.

　　2 a great/good many 做代詞，表示“許多人東西” eg A great many of us like American English better than British English.我們中的許多人喜歡美語勝過英國英語

　　3the number of + n 可數名詞複數表示"....的數目”,用它做主語時，謂語用單數

　　eg The number of the students in our class is 55.

　　二、只能修飾不可數名詞的“許多” much、 a great / good deal of 和a large amount of ，這類“許多”修飾主語名詞時候，謂語用單數

　　eg I don't know they gave us much help.

　　There is a great/good deal of snow on the ground.地上有許多雪 I spend a large amount of money on books every month.我每月要花很多錢買書

　　溫馨提示：

　　1much 單用，做名詞表示“許多，大量” eg Much has been said about it .關於這種事已經說的很多了

　　2a great deal 做名詞片語和副詞片語，也表示“大量，許多”/ 還可以修飾比較級，表示程度。

　　eg At the end of the year there was a great deal to do .年底有很多事情做

　　eg They talked a great deal about the problem.他們對這個問題談論了許多 eg He is a great deal better today 他今天好多了修飾比較級，表示程度

　　三、既可以修飾可數名詞複數，又可以修飾不可數名詞 a lot of 、lots of 、plenty of 、supplies of ，

　　a great/quantity of 、great/large quantities of

　　eg he has got a lot/lots of questions to ask. A lot of / lots of work is to be done this week.

　　There are plenty of books on the shelf.

　　I have plenty of time to do it

　　Suppies of trees were washed away.
