  大學英語優秀作文:On College Degree

About a decade ago, university students could find satisfactory and enviable jobs after their graduation.

But now, things are different. Today's university students usually have much pressure in finding fairly good jobs. They always say disappointedly that graduation means joblessness. Why nowadays university students have so much pressure in finding jobs? In my opinion, this kind of pressure is mainly caused by three reasons. Firstly, the government is enrolling more and more university students year by year. And the growth of the students' number has surpassed that of the need of the society. So, when so many students graduate at a time, the chance of finding jobs becomes tiny. Secondly, today's university students, most of them are the "only-child", who are more mentally frail. Since they are indulged greatly at home and haven't been trained to do things on their own, once it is their turn to go out of the campus and find jobs by themselves and decide what kind of jobs to choose, they feel bewildered and don't know what to do. If their first try fails, they will be frustrated and think that it is really hard to find jobs. Thirdly, some university students are not qualified for good and challenging jobs. After entering the university, they don't study as hard as they did in high schools. They begin to sleep during the class or even be absent for classes. Some are addicted to computer games or Jin Yong's novels, or step into the two-person-world too early. Because these things have taken up so much of their time and energy, their study is neglected. After four years of university life, they haven't gained the knowledge those fairly good jobs or certain positions require.

This situation can be changed. The government may decrease the growth of enrolling university students gradually. And the university students can join in some extracurricular activities on campus to train their abilities of doing things independently and try to do some part-time jobs during weekends and vacations to gain more social experience. What's more, students should attach greatest importance to their study, not anything else. They should study harder and try to master the methods of how to put the knowledge they have learned into practice so as to be qualified for the jobs they desire.

  大學英語優秀作文:Cease Your Hunting for Privacy

In recent years, many newspapers and magazines feature stories about the private life of film stars, pop singers or even some famous political figures. Reporters disguise their identities, infiltrate the subjects' business and family, or even bug and wiretap them to get the firsthand news by whatever means nec

Their single motive is to raise the publication and hence a huge profit by means of satisfying the readers' curiosity in the name of "people's right to know." However, at the same time, the bad effects they bring to the famous people, the public readers and even the whole society are countless.

Standing in the shoes of those exposed people, you'll find out that their legal right of privacy is deprived by such press attention. What awaits them is severe injury. To escape the hunters, Catherine Zeta Jones, when conceiving her second child, had to pay millions of dollars in avoiding cameras of those who illegally broke in, the result of which is that the other day when she got up, the reports titled "Catherine spent six million dollars..." dramatically appeared on the front page of all news

What a ridicule! The reporters' ability to hunt privacy turns out endless nightmares of the famous who are under the pressure of public media and suddenly become sensitively cautious or easily raged, being afraid of losing their reputation and receiving accidental insults. Compared with Princess Diana who was famous and popular at the cost of her young, beautiful life, should Catherine say "Thank you?"

Thanks to whom? To the privacy hunters, the public media, the social phenomena caused by newspapers and magazincs; feature stories, or maybe all of us who are misled by such media? With our curiosity to others' privacy wrongly aroused, our taste of culture and life is on the decrease, our passion transferred from our own life and career. What's worse, we eventually become the accomplices who join in the vicious cycles of the whole enterprise.

At least two main victims suffer in the hunting. And the third is no doubt the whole society who bears all kinds of losses, from the suicide of the young talented actress to the give up of new stars in scientific field who intended to devote their brilliance to the whole world. Even the prime minister of Britain is recently bothered by the "scandal" of his wife. As a result, he fails to deal efficiently with the national events.

To avoid such tragedies, hunters, please cease your illegal photography, and your dangerous hunting for privacy.

The Drought in Northern Parts of Our Country

In recent years, drought has prevailed in northern parts of our country. There is no or only little rain in spring and summer in the noth and northeast of China. The same is true of snow in winter.

Consequently, big cities such as Beijing and Tianjin are short of water every year, which affects the life of the urban people and the production of factories. And the drought is most felt by crops in rural areas, of course. It is said the drought has much to do with the "green house effect" and the "greenhouse effect" is caused by the pollution of the atmosphere. In the final analysis, it is brought about by ourselves.

Faced with the terrible drought, we should stop polluting the air right away. We should try all means to decrease the amount of poisonous gases which our factories and cars give off. Besides, we should take measures to protect the forests and plant as many trees as possible.

  大學英語優秀作文:Chinese Senior Citizen

China has become a country with an increasing nUnber of old people. By old people we usually mean persons over the age of sixty. We often call them senior citizens instead of old men to show our respect.

Most senior citizens retire or no longer work full-time. They usually live in their own houses not far from their children's, while the children of a few senior citizens have gone abroad and work or study far be yond the oceans. For certain senior citizens, tile years after retirement are not very enjoyable. First, they feel that their lives lose meaning for being at home all day. In addition, they may feel lonely, especially those without children around. Moreover, they become more concerned with their health, as they grow older, and worry a lot about their safety. At the same time, many senior citizens enjoy their lives. They feel free to do things they were not able to do when they were working and raising their families. They spend their time travelling, doing exercises or watching TV. They get together with their fellow members who have the common interests and equal free time.

In fact, there are some still continuing their work, not just for money, but to show their value. However, no one really wants to be old, and perhaps all like to be young forever.

大學英語優秀作文:Is Space Research a Waste of Money

For over fifty years, a number of nations have been involved in the exploration of outer space. This research has been very costly, of course. Is this money well-spent or wasted?

Some people believe that all or most space researches should be stopped because of its incredible expense, not only in terms of money, but also in terms of scientific and humaa resources. Those people point ont the fact that it cost billions of dollars to send astronauts to the moon, but all they brought back were some worthless rocks. However, other people believe that space research has provided many benefits for mankind. They point oat that hundreds of useful products, from personal computers to heart pacemakers to freeze-dried foods, are the direct or indirect results of space research.

I agree with those people who support space research and want it to continue. Space research, as shown, has already brought many benefits to humanity. Perhaps it will bring even more benefits in the fatare, ones that we can not even imagine now.
