  高中生英語美文篇1

  Grow Great by Dreams

The question was once asked of a highly successful businessman, "How have you done so much in your lifetime?"

He replied, "I have dreamed. I have turned my mind loose to imagine what I wanted to do. Then I have gone to bed and thought about my dreams. In the night I dreamt about my dreams. And when I awoke in the morning, I saw the way to make my dreams real. While other people were saying, 'You can't do that, it is impossible,' I was well on my way to achieving what I wanted." As Woodrow Wilson, 28th President of the U.S., said: "We grow great by dreams. All big men are dreamers."

They see things in the soft haze of a spring day, or in the red fire on a long winter's evening. Some of us let these dreams die, but others nourish***滋養*** and protect them; nourish them through bad days until they bring them to the sunshine and light which comes always to those who sincerely hope that their dreams will come true.

So please, don not let anyone steal your dreams, or try to tell you they are too impossible.

"Sing your songs, and dream your dreams, hope your hope and pray your prayer."

  高中生英語美文篇2

  A Simple Day

To wake up in the morning, knowing I am still alive,

To know I have a choice each day, starting afresh,

To find joy in every day, acknowledging simple pleasures,

To live in the present moment, eagaging my awareness,

To count the blessing in life, believing abundance abounds,

To enjoy the work I do, following my passion,

To make a little difference, adding to the universe,

To be what I am, listenning to my inner being,

To give away love, rejoicing in the chance to give,

To receive love with gratitude, feeling good about it,

To smile at strangers, seeing how infections it can be,

To speak words of kindness, spreading a little warmth,

To understand with compassion, openning up my mind,

To play with children, nurturing my inner child,

To appreciate the nature, soaking up all the beauty,

To feel the warmth of the sun, glowing upon my skin,

To listen to the falling rain, pattering on the grounds,

To taste the richness of food, sliding down my throat,

To smell the freshness of air, filling up my lungs,

To see the falling night, concluding a well-lived day,

  That is life,that is living,

That is the core of what really matters...

And if I have missed out anything,

Please let love make up for all of it.

  高中生英語美文篇3

  不完美也沒什麼大不了

The New Year, Chinese or otherwise, has now passed. The parties, and any hangovers***宿醉,遺物***, are long gone. Unfortunately, for many of you, your New Year's resolutions are only memories. The gym bag sits forlorn***被遺忘的*** in the corner, the bean sprouts***豆芽*** wilt in your fridge. Your intentions were good, I know. You resolved to get into a new exercising habit, eat better, spend more time at work, spend more time with the family, or volunteer for a local charity. Or maybe all of the above.

To those of you who are sticking to your New Year's resolutions I say CONGRATULATIONS! Don't be too smug. For those of you who have not, I say CONGRATULATIONS!

Why would I congratulate people who haven't stuck to their resolutions? Simple. They MADE resolutions. Deciding to change yourself, really committing to be a better person in some way, is not a decision arrived at easily. The fact that you decided to change yourself means that you've taken stock of yourself. You've reflected. You haven't let the powerful forces of rationalization***合理化*** prevent you from committing to self-change.

"But," you say, "I failed. That's terrible isn't it? It's so depressing. Why even bother trying if it's so hard?"

I have news for you: You are not perfect. You are not all-powerful. Self-change is hard, so it's not terribly surprising that you didn't get it right the first try. So, stop feeling so bad. It's like when someone gets thrown from a horse. What do the horsie-types say? You're supposed to get up, brush the dust off, and get back on that horse! That's what you need to do right now.
