【菩薩】 是菩提薩埵的簡稱，能自己覺悟，再能覺悟人的謂之菩薩；所以是人天的導師，為三界的善知識。三界是：（一）欲界，由人的一部分下至五道；（二）色界，指天道；（三）無色界，指禪天；總是在六道中。菩薩分在家，出家，地前，登地，十地、等覺，最高是一生補處菩薩，就是佛退位後，他來接位的，如此土的彌勒佛，西方的觀世音大士。這個菩薩，是指等覺將登佛位的大自在菩薩。
