百貨公司(departmentstore)是一種大規模的經營日用工業品為主的綜合性的零售商業企業，經營的商品類別（系列）多，同時每類商品（每條商品線）的花色、品種、規格齊全（專案多），實際上是許多專業商店的綜合體。一般以大、中型居多；從日用品到食品，從工業到土特產品，從低檔、中檔到高檔品都經營，綜合性強，它又是高度組織化的企業，內部分設商品部或專櫃，商品部相對獨立，可自己負責商品進貨業務，控制庫存，安排銷售計劃。1862年，法國巴黎的“好市場”是世界第一家百貨公司，百年來，百貨公司仍是零售商業的主要形式之一。美、日、法等國的大型百貨公司，銷售的商品多在25萬種以上，最高的達到50萬種。
