二十四節氣是指干支歷中表示季節、物候、氣候變化以及確立“十二月建”的特定節令，於漢代用來指導農事。 二十四節氣是上古農耕文明的產物，它是上古先民順應農時，透過觀察天體執行，認知一歲中時令、氣候、物候等變化規律所形成的知識體系。二十四節氣把太陽週年運動軌跡劃分為24等份，每一等份為一個節氣，始於立春，終於大寒，反映了太陽對地球產生的影響。經歷史發展，農曆吸收了干支歷的節氣成分作為曆法補充，並透過“置閏法”調整使其符合迴歸年，形成陰陽合曆，“二十四節氣”也就成為了農曆的一個重要部分。在國際氣象界，二十四節氣被譽為“中國的第五大發明”。2016年11月30日，二十四節氣被正式列入聯合國教育、科學及文化組織、人類非物質文化遺產代表作名錄。
