游泳池是人們進行遊泳運動的專門場所，人們可以在其中活動或進行比賽。多數游泳池建在地面，根據水溫可分為一般游泳池和溫水游泳池。分室內、室外兩種。正式比賽泳池為長50米、寬至少21米、水深1.8米以上；供游泳、跳水和水球綜合使用的池，水深1.3～3.5米；設10米跳臺的池，水深應為5米。游泳池水溫應保持在27～28°c。應有過濾和消毒裝置，以保持池水清潔。
