打嗝即呃逆（hiccup），是指胃部多餘的氣體從胃中上逆，在喉間頻頻作聲，聲音急而短促。屬於生理上常見的現象，由橫膈膜痙攣收縮引起的。 健康人也可發生一次性呃逆，多與飲食有關，特別是飲食過快、過飽，攝入很熱或冷的食物飲料、飲酒、碳酸飲料等，外界溫度變化和過度吸菸亦可引起。呃逆頻繁或持續24小時以上，稱為難治性呃逆，多發生於某些疾病。
