《四書五經》是四書與五經的合稱，是儒家的九部經典著作。 《四書五經》它們取得“經”的地位，經過了一個相當長的時期。“四書”包括《禮記》中《大學》《中庸》兩篇和《論語》《孟子》，南宋朱熹將此四種書加以註釋，合輯為《四書章句集註》，由此始立“四書”之名；“五經”包括《詩》《書》《禮》《易》《春秋》，其名始立於漢武帝時，立“五經”於學宮，取得了統治思想和學術的最高地位。 《四書五經》記載了中國古代的典章文物的歷史資料，論述了儒家的哲學、政治、倫理、文化與教育等思想，是歷代儒客學子研學的核心書經，在中國傳統文化中佔據著相當重要的位置。
