General

Deciding to rescind1 the earlier estimate, our report was updated to include $40,000 for new equipment. Deciding to rescind our earlier estimate, we have updated our report to include $40,000 for new equipment.

He decided2 not to audit3 the last ten contracts. Because of our previous objections about compliance4. He decided not to audit the last ten contracts because of our previous objections about compliance.

The owner questioned the occupant's lease intentions and the fact that the contract had been altered with ink markings. The owner questioned the occupant's lease intentions and ink alterations5 of the contract.

An authorized6 person must show that they have security clearance7. Authorized persons must show that they have security clearance.

1. This is one of the public-relations functions that is under-budgeted. 2. This is one of the public-relations functions, which are under-budgeted.

He did not make repairs, however, he continued to monitor the equipment. He did not make repairs; however, he continued to monitor the equipment.

MUST change to OS immediately.

J: Everything I've seen so far is very impressive. Very impressive indeed.

  1. get acquainted ***with…*** ***和`……***認識,熟悉……

Our boss got acquainted with a couple of real estate agents in the golf Club.

  2. on top of things

The new manager was always worried he wasn't on top of things.

  3. ***a*** force to be reckoned with 值得注意的人物

"a force to be reckoned with"是形容"有成功的條件而值得注意的人物、團體"。

例: The new company will be a force to be reckoned with in the future.

  4. Don't I know it.

You say the discount rate is too low? Don't I know it!

  5. in a nutshell

Bob told us in a nutshell what happened in the managers' meeting.

  ***Bob ***

  6. growth sector

The leisure and entertainment industry is a growth sector in Taiwan.
