　　一、英語小故事

　　Mr Smith has a nice, brown coat. He loves it a lot. But his wife doesn’t like it because it’s old. She often says, “Give it to poor man.” But Mr Smith says, “No, I like this coat.”

　　史密斯先生有一件漂亮的棕色外套，他非常喜歡它。但是他的妻子不喜歡，因為它是舊的。她經常說，“把它送給窮人吧。”但是史密斯先生說：“不，我喜歡這件衣服。”

　　But one day, a cigarette falls on it and makes a hole in it. So Mrs Smith says, “Please don’t wear it again.” Mr Smith takes it to a tailor’s shop and says to the tailor, “Please make another coat like this one.” The tailor does what he is told him and makes a new coat. Then the tailor makes a hole in it again with his cigarette in the same place.

　　但是一天，一隻香菸把這件衣服燒了一個洞。於是史密斯太太說：“請不要再穿它了。”史密斯先生把它拿到了一個裁縫店對裁縫說：“請給我做一件與這件一模一樣的外套。”裁縫按照他說的做了一件新外套。然後裁縫又用香菸在同一個地方燒了一個洞。

　　二、失敗與成功

　　Failure is so common in our life. No one can avoid it. When we fail in doing something, we often feel so depressed that we have no interest in other things. Sometimes failure can also make us lose heart. Therefore, no one wants to be a failure.

　　失敗是生活中是很常見的。沒有人能避免失敗。當我們做某事失敗的時候，我們經常覺得很沮喪，而提不起興趣去做其他的事情。有時失敗會使我們喪失信心。所以，沒有人想成為失敗者。

　　Success is what we all hope for, because it can bring us a sense of pride and a good reputation. The moment we succeed, we always feel so proud, as if having everything in our hands. If one enjoys his continuous success in his career, he will be famous and worshiped by others.

　　成功是我們所希望的，因為它能夠給我們帶來的自豪感和良好的信譽。成功的那一刻我們都感到很自豪，就好像我們擁有了一切。如果一個人喜歡在他的職業生涯中不斷取得成功，他就會出名，被別人崇拜。

　　However, failure is the mother of success. One failure doesn’t mean you can never be successful. It depends on what we do to deal with failure. Those who are always afraid of failure and can’t go through it will never win. But as long as we can get some lessons and experience from our failure, we’ll be sure to succeed.

　　不過，失敗是成功之母。一次失敗並不意味著你永遠不能成功。這取決於我們如何面對失敗。那些總是害怕失敗，不能克服這個心理的人永遠都不會成功。但只要我們能吸取教訓，我們一定會成功的。
