篇一
Dear son...
The day that you see me old and I am already not, have patience and try to understand me …
If I get dirty when eating… if I can not dress… have patience.
Remember the hours I spent teaching it to you.
If, when I speak to you, I repeat the same things thousand and one times… do not interrupt me… listen to me.
When you were small, I had to read to you thousand and one times the same story until you get to sleep…
When I do not want to have a shower, neither shame me nor scold me…
Remember when I had to chase you with thousand excuses I invented, in order that you wanted to bath…
When you see my ignorance on new technologies… give me the necessary time and not look at me with your mocking smile…
I taught you how to do so many things… to eat good, to dress well… to confront life…
When at some moment I lose the memory or the thread of our conversation… let me have the necessary time to remember… and if I cannot do it, do not become nervous… as the most important thing is not my conversation but surely to be with you and to have you listening to me…

Dear Family,
You must be greatly surprised when you get this letter, not from anyone else but from your dearest son, since I have never written a letter for ages in such a traditional way.
The purpose of my writing is not so much to express my gratitude for bringing me up, as it is to tell you something about my college life. It has been more than two years since I started my college life and I have adapted myself to the new environment here, even though at the very beginning, I was not quite used to it.
My classmates are pretty friendly and they offer to help me whenever need be, which is really precious for me. My teachers tell me the differences between college life and high school life and give me some necessary advice on how to learn in college. Because of their kind-hearted help, I learn to know the importance of cooperation and communications between each other, especially when in Group work. In the past several months, I have been busy preparing for TEM 4.
Therefore, most of the time, I stayed at school and seldom kept in touch with you; I should have been ashamed of this. But now it is completely finished, and I will never do that again. In my spare time, I usually go to play basketball to keep fit since you always ask me to practice more to keep healthy.
What is more, I like to go to the English Corner to practice my spoken English in order to improve my oral English level, which is of importance as English major.
Finally, I would like to specially thank you for providing me the best education and experience. Without your support and understanding, it wouldn’t be the same. In regard to the future, I will make every effort to study for my degree and make the dreams I had envisioned come true. Take good care of yourselves as you have asked me to.
Best regards,
Jay

Dear Little One,
I am pretty sure that you're already 16 years old when you've seen this letter. And we do hope that the important lesson I wrote in this letter could be helpful to your future life. After all, it's the important lesson that your dad and mum got from life before your birth.
Actually, what I am trying to say is you should always remember your dreams and try to stick to it as much as possible.
Yes, this sounds like an old cliché that retold by everybody again and again since primary school. But we do think the main reason for retelling it repeatly is actually most of people failed to stick to their dreams. So do us.
Recently, your mother and I were both worried about our future career very much. You know, sometimes, we can't see any possibility of being promoted within next 5 years, because we are in a rigid system. Meanwhile, ironically, we can barely find any other alternative choice for the current dilemma. This anxiety tortured us increasingly as time goes by. To be honest, I don't think I can fully devote myself to the occupation that I am engaged in, for I don't like it since university. And I am very much certain that I couldn't be one of the elites in my occupation without passion.
You must know that your parents are both engineers in energy sector, one that sounds high-tech, but actually is not. However, do you know that your father's dream was to be an architect? He showed a great interest and passion about the structure and space since childhood. For hundreds of thousands of times, he designed all sorts of dreamed houses in his mind. But, as you can see now, he'd failed to achieve that and became a mechanical engineer eventually.
One of your dad's friends is a structure engineer from UK. We'd met each other at Sydney and became a close friend afterwards. He is an extraordinary engineer in his field. I believe that it wouldn't be long for him to become an elite one, because I can clearly see his passion towards job when we talk about architecture issues. And that passion is something that I lost for a long time.
Life, in my mind, is like a voyage in the sea and dream is the compass on board. Hardly could a captain sail across the ocean successfully without a compass. And also, it could be a disaster for neglecting of the compass even if the captain has one. Therefore, it's true that we should realise the importance of having a dream in mind. But it's even more important to stick to the dream.
Soon, I believe that you are going to face an important choice in your life – What do you want to do in the future? Just remember to choose one occupation that you're passionate with. And we will support your decision no matter what you've chosen, for sure!
Your eternal fans,
Daddy
