關於聖誕節的由來和習俗

　　聖誕節Christmas又稱聖誕節，譯名為“基督彌撒”，西方傳統節日，在每年12月25日。下面是有聖誕節的由來和習俗，歡迎參閱。

　　聖誕節的傳說和由來

　　聖誕節這個名稱是基督彌撒的縮寫。彌撒是教會的一種禮拜儀式。耶誕節是一個宗節我們把它當作耶蘇的誕辰來慶祝，因而又名耶誕節。這一天，世界所有的基督教會都舉行特別的禮拜儀式。但是有很多聖誕節的歡慶活動和宗教並無半點關聯。交換禮物，寄聖誕卡，這都使聖誕節成為一個普天同慶的日子。

　　聖誕節是基督教世界最大的節日。世紀初，月日是羅馬帝國東部各教會紀念那穌降生和受洗的雙重節日、稱為主顯節，亦稱顯現節即上帝通過那穌向世人顯示自己。當時只有那路拉冷的教會例外，那裡只紀念耶穌的誕生而不紀念那穌的受洗。後來歷史學家們在羅馬基督徒習用的日曆中發現公元年月日頁內記錄著：基督降生在猶大的伯利恆。經過研究，一般認為月日伴為聖誕節可能開始於公元年的羅馬教會約在公元年傳到小亞細亞的安提阿，公元年傳到埃及的亞歷山大里亞，那路撒冷的教會接受得最晚，而亞美尼亞的教會則仍然堅持月日主顯節是那穌的誕辰。

　　月日原來是波斯太陽神即光明之神密特拉的誕辰，是一個異教徒節日，同時太陽神也是羅馬國教眾神之一。這一天又是羅馬曆書的冬至節，崇拜太陽神的異教徒都把這一天當作春天的希望，萬物復甦的開始。可能由於這個原因，羅馬教會才選擇這一天作為聖誕節。這是教會初期力圖把異教徒的風俗習慣基督教化的措施之一。後來，雖然大多數教會都接受月日為聖誕節，但又固各地教會使用的歷書不同，具體日期不能統一，於是就把月日到第二年的月日定為聖誕節節期，各地教會可以根據當地具體情況在這段節期之內慶祝聖誕節。自從月日被大多數教會公認為聖誕節後，原來月日的主顯節就只紀念耶穌受洗了，但天主教會又把月日定為三王來朝節，以紀念耶穌生時東方三王即三位博士來朝拜的故事。隨著基督教的廣泛傳播，聖誕節已成為各教派基督徒，甚至廣大非基督徒群眾的一個重要節日。在歐美許多國家裡，人們非常重視這個節日，把它和新年連在一起，而慶祝活動之熱鬧與隆重大大超過了新年，成為一個全民的節日。月日的主要紀念活動都與那穌降生的傳說有關。

　　耶蘇的出生是有一段故事的，耶蘇是因著聖靈成孕，由童女馬利亞所生的。神更派遣使者加伯列在夢中曉諭約瑟，叫他不要因為馬利亞未婚懷孕而不要她，反而要與她成親，把那孩子起名為耶蘇，意思是要他把百姓從罪惡中救出來。

　　當馬利亞快要臨盆的時候，羅馬政府下了命令，全部人民到伯利恆務必申報戶籍。約瑟和馬利亞只好遵命。他們到達伯利恆時，天色已昏，無奈兩人未能找到旅館渡宿，只有一個馬棚可以暫住。就在這時，耶蘇要出生了!於是馬利亞唯有在馬槽上，生下耶蘇。後人為紀念耶蘇的誕生，便定十二月二十五為聖誕節，年年望彌撒，紀念耶蘇的出世。

　　聖誕節便是於十二月二十五日紀念耶蘇的誕生，但真實的誕生日就沒有人知道了。十九世紀，聖誕卡的流行、聖誕老人的出現，聖誕節也開始流行起來了。

　　聖誕節的由來

　　聖誕節不少孩子以為是聖誕老公公誕生的日子。其實聖誕節是來自基督教習俗，是慶祝榮耀尊貴的上帝為了愛世人，便將他的獨生子耶穌基督道成肉身來到世間，成為人的樣式，與人一同承擔苦難、救贖世人。聖誕節就是慶祝聖子耶穌基督的誕生。而在西方慶祝聖誕節不是隻有聖誕節夜以及聖誕節當天，早在聖誕節前的四個星期日，便已經開始每週日慶祝耶穌誕生的習俗，這一段時間稱為“將臨期”。

　　在將臨節期，教會的佈置全都以藍紫色為主。聖壇的桌巾、講臺的臺帷、牧師袍的肩帶都是紫色。並且聖壇中央通常會放置一個用長青樹的葉子作的花環，中間有五枝紫色的長燭，每個星期日，便多點上一枝蠟燭。到最後的聖誕夜裡的“普世同慶”點上中間的最後一枝蠟燭。燭光象徵著在許多年前的聖嬰孩耶穌其第一聲啼哭裡，為這世上帶來了光明。

　　而聖誕老人其實是西元第三世紀的尼可萊斯主教。他曾冒死解救被處殛刑的政治犯、也揭發過貪婪官吏屯糧，使百姓渡過饑荒。在宗教被迫害時，被捕入獄，身上滿是鞭痕、鉗傷與烙印，仍堅持其信仰。而後半生留在米拉，設立孤兒院、照顧病患、貧民。尼可萊斯生平事蹟中，最膾炙人口的是他慷慨助人的行徑和對孩童的愛心，這些事蹟後來被兒童文學家，予以豐富的想像而成為我們現在所知聖誕老人故事。

　　聖誕節最重要的意義是講“饒恕”與“和好”，而非等待聖誕禮物。在這寧靜的夜晚，想一想有沒有人得罪你，你還沒原諒他、饒恕他呢?

　　聖誕節是哪一天?

　　“聖誕”原意為慶祝基督的誕生。這個詞英文 Christmas原為Christes Mass，是基督宗教的傳統，但是最早還是大公會教會的用詞。古代英文的Yule原無宗教的含義，只代表十二月與一月的冬季，以後才成為詩詞的用語Yuletide。

　　主降生後二、三百年，教會曾慶祝聖誕，但是在不同的日期。如今大家公認的聖誕在十二月二十五日，是羅馬皇君士坦丁所定的。但是學者的稽考，卻以為是在君士坦丁以後，約在三五四年羅馬主教李伯騮Liberius訂定的。在羅馬原有太陽神節Feast of Saturn，在十二月二十五日，羅馬全國慶祝這常勝的太陽神Sol invictus。教會無法廢除這異教的節日，卻以慶祝聖誕來取代，因為基督是世上的光，他是公義的日頭。

　　有人認為十二月二十五日既為異教的節日應該避免。甚至改至暑。但，世界都在十二月二十五日慶祝，怎樣更改，也無法使人忘記這個日子。
