  Love in Campus

Nowadays, campus love is popular. Some college teachers argue that students should give up love for the sake of learning. They maintain that love is time consuming and influences one’s learning. Some students, however, hold that a student who falls in love will study harder and will make greater progress. They don't believe that a person in love lags behind in his studies.

There are different kinds of love on campus. Some students regard love as killing time or adding color; some are pragmatic, thinking it's difficult to find a better partner after graduation; the purpose of others is for seeking the impetus of study. Anyhow, far away from home and alone, seeking friendship, understanding and love, the boys and girls easily find comfort and appreciation from one another.

As a mater of fact, love is a sharp double-bladed knife. Having it will make you very happy; while losing it, you always feel disappointed and depressed. When the bond of love broken, going on studying as usual or sinking lament or even being crazy depend on us. We will not let romantic entanglement interfere with our studies.

Love is a natural and quiet. During the process of love we will experience romantic love, frustrating love and critical love and real love. True love will overcome our pain and dismay, warm our heart, and spark our spirit with delight forces but not resistance.

He met her at a party. She was outstanding; many guys were after her, but nobody paid any attention to him. After the party, he invited her for coffee. She was surprised. So as not to appear rude, she went along.

As they sat in a nice coffee shop, he was too nervous to say anything and she felt uncomfortable. Suddenly, he asked the waiter, "Could you please give me some salt? I'd like to put it in my coffee."

They stared at him. He turned red, but when the salt came, he put it in his coffee and drank. Curious, she asked, "Why put salt in the coffee?" He explained, "When I was a little boy, I lived near the sea. I liked playing on the seaside ... I could feel its taste salty, like salty coffee. Now every time I drink it, I think of my childhood and my hometown. I miss it and my parents, who are still there."

She was deeply touched. A man who can admit that he's homesick must love his home and care about his family. He must be responsible.

She talked too, about her faraway hometown, her childhood, her family. That was the start to their love story.

They continued to date. She found that he met all her requirements. He was tolerant, kind, warm and careful. And to think she would have missed the catch if not for the salty coffee!

So they married and lived happily together. And every time she made coffee for him, she put in some salt, the way he liked it.

After 40 years, he passed away and left her a letter which said:

My dearest, please forgive my life-long lie. Remember the first time we dated? I was so nervous I asked for salt instead of sugar.

It was hard for me to ask for a change, so I just went ahead. I never thought that we would hit it off. Many times, I tried to tell you the truth, but I was afraid that it would ruin everything.

Sweetheart, I don't exactly like salty coffee. But as it mattered so much to you, I've learnt to enjoy it. Having you with me was my greatest happiness. If I could live a second time, I hope we can be together again, even if it means that I have to drink salty coffee for the rest of my life.

On the next day the businessman, as always, threw out "the otter is still waiting, Miss!"

Sitting in front of him, Reny asked: "howmuch?"in a business manner.

The man turned red. He hadn't expected herquestion, but still he managed to utter coolly:"1000 dollars!’

She had never seen so much money at one time Whyever not'' Still, she decided to take a risk;"2000"

“Agreed”Henodded after a brief thinking and asked when.

"Tonight. After work. I finish at12," she whispered and bowed down her head.

"My chauffer will wait for you outside,ok?"

She nodded and stood up, made for the har, herlegs shaking with agitation. She grasped the plot with both hands and closedher eyes。

"Did that guy insult you, sweetie?'" the barman whispered and fingered thebathe always kept by his side, placed in the corner.

No she answered. avoiding his eyes.

When, in the evening she had completed thepolishing of the tables, she glanced at the clock on the wall--15 minutes hadpassed after midnight. She nodded goodbye to the barman and left.

The white Mercedes waited her before theentrance. The chauffeur, standing by the Car,immediately opened the rear door for her. With Before turning the ignitionswitch, he turned back the speed of lightning, he sat behind the wheel andhanded her a big envelope.

  "For you”

Surprised, Reny took Lhe envelope. ller fingersfelt it impatiently. Banknotes, a lot of banknotes!

She didn't realize when the car had driven off.or when it stopped. She sat on the back seat, pressing theTrembling, envelopeto her breast. The chauffeur quickly sprang out of the car and opened hersheclimbed out and looked around--but, for some reason, the car had parked indoor. front of her own block, she screwed up her eyes in surprise, and turnedtowards the chauffeur, her brow’s rising questioningly.

"Shall I accompany you'.'" he askedpolitely, nodding towards the stinky dark entrance.

  But she uttered in astonishment.

The chauffeur kept smiling, the same mysticway, remaining silent

"No, thank you! I'll be all right!"the girl whispered and rushed for the door. She started running up the darkslippery stairs, because the elevator was out of order for months now, they hadcut it off because of unpaid bills. She had reached the second 11oor when thelight on the staircase blazed up.She gave a start. Frozen for a second- thenshe remembered. The chauffeur downstairs must have switched it on.

At home, Reny, out of breath, long time countedthe banknotes. They always came out 2000dollars. At last, disgusted, shegathered them and carried them to the kitchen table.

She went back to her room and couldn't sleepall night-she was trying to work out what exactly had happened. Little as shefelt like going to work, she still went. For the first time, she was late, butthe barman only smiled to her understandingly, he obviously had seen the whiteMercedes that had waited for her last night.

All was like usual-men followed her with eyesgreedy and burning with desire, and the barman snarled around and saw to itthat their advances didn't get close to anything but dreams and intentions.

As always, exactly at 12 o'clock came thebusinessman, too. While she was serving him his whisky, he said between histeeth, "If you hadn't accepted the money, I would have married you!"

He hurled a big banknote on the table and stoodup, without even touching his drink.

As she was watching his broad back disappearbehind the door. Reny understood that the moment she had started to love thisman, she had lost him.
