　　My heart aches, and a drowsy numbness pains

　　《夜鶯頌》全詩共八節。開始寫詩人自己聽鶯歌而置身瑰麗的幻想境界。繼而寫縱飲美酒，詩興大發，憑詩意遐想，隨夜鶯飄然而去，深夜醉臥花叢，縷縷芳香襲面而來，詩人陶然自樂，心曠神怡，願就此離別人世。人都有一死，而夜鶯的歌卻永世不滅。想到此，夢幻結束，重返現實。在濟慈看來，他生活於其中的社會是庸俗、虛偽和汙濁骯髒的，而永恆的大自然則綺麗秀美、清新可愛。因而對醜的鞭撻和對美的追求構成了他抒情詩的基調。評論家認為詩人以夜鶯的歌聲象徵大自然中永恆的歡樂，並與現實世界中人生短暫、好景不長相對照。詩人把主觀感情滲透在具體的畫面中，以情寫景，以景傳情，意境獨特新奇，不落俗套。通篇由奇妙的想象引領，寫來自然、流暢。另外此詩也是浪漫主義抒情詩歌中的力作。
