詩（poetry），又稱詩歌，是一種用高度凝練的語言，形象地表達作者的豐富情感，集中反映社會生活並具有一定節奏和韻律的文學體裁。 詩是一種闡述心靈的文學體裁，詩人需要按照一定的音節、聲調和韻律的要求，用凝練的語言、充沛的情感以及豐富的意象來高度集中地表現社會生活和人類精神世界。

詩經

《詩經》是中國第一部詩歌總集，是中國古代詩歌開端，在中國乃至世界文化史上都佔有重要地位。 《詩經》共收錄自西周初年至春秋中葉大約五百多年的詩歌311篇。《詩經》的作者佚名，絕大部分已經無法考證，傳為尹吉甫採集、孔子編訂。《詩經》在先秦時期稱為《詩》，或取其整數稱《詩三百》。西漢時被尊為儒家經典，始稱《詩經》。詩經在內容上分為《風》《雅》《頌》三個部分。《風》是周代各地的歌謠；《雅》是周人的正聲雅樂，又分《小雅》和《大雅》；《頌》是周王庭和貴族宗廟祭祀的樂歌，又分為《周頌》《魯頌》和《商頌》。 《詩經》內容豐富，反映了勞動與愛情、戰爭與徭役、壓迫與反抗、風俗與婚姻、祭祖與宴會，甚至天象、地貌、動物、植物等方方面面，是周代社會生活的一面鏡子。它描寫現實、反映現實的寫作手法，開創了詩歌創作的現實主義優良傳統，歷代詩人的詩歌創作不同程度地受到《詩經》的影響。
