《恢復》出版於1928年，共收詩作24首，創作於1928年1月5日至16日的半個月中。這時，郭沫若已經經受了革命戰爭的考驗、鍛鍊，成長為一名共產主義的戰士。“八一”南昌起義失敗後，他又大病一場。但是反動派的血腥屠殺以及疾病的折磨，都不能磨損他的意志。到了白色恐怖的上海，他大病初癒，便寫下了這些鬥志昂揚的詩。
