肝

肝（liver），人體臟器名，五臟之一。是脊椎動物身體內以代謝功能為主的一個器官，並在身體裡面充分扮演著去氧化，儲存肝糖，分泌性蛋白質的合成等等。肝臟也製造消化系統中之膽汁。在醫學用字上，常以拉丁語字首hepato-或hepatic來描述肝臟或肝臟的。大部分的肝臟疾病都會有黃疸的症狀，這是由於肝臟無法繼續將膽紅素排出所以就在體內累積。中醫認為：肝與膽相為表裡，開竅於目，肝主藏血，膽主疏洩，有貯藏和調節血液的功能。《素問·五臟生成》：“肝之合筋也，其榮爪也。”肝又為將軍之官，主謀慮。

肝 gān 為形聲字。字從肉，從幹，幹亦聲。“肉”指“人身”。“幹”本指盾牌，引申指“防護”、“自衛”的意思。“肉”與“幹”聯合起來表示“人體中的盾牌”。 本義：人體中具有防護自衛功能的臟器。
