鵬

鵬是中國神話傳說中最大的一種鳥，由鯤變化而成。 中國的鵬字，根據《說文》、《字林》等典籍，即“鳳”的古字。《說文》曰：“鳳飛，群鳥從以萬數，故以朋為朋黨字。”可見“鵬”左邊的“朋”來自它群鳥之王的地位。就字源而論，可以推測大鵬和鳳凰源自先民的同一種鳥圖騰，逐漸分化，帶上不同的特徵。 鵬在中國古代文獻中，記載最早的當屬《莊子》。莊周在其《莊子－逍遙遊》中說“北冥有魚，其名為鯤。鯤之大，不知其幾千裡也。化而為鳥，其名為鵬。鵬之背，不知其幾千裡也。怒而飛，其翼若垂天之雲”、“水擊三千里，摶扶搖而上者九萬里”、“絕雲氣，負青天，然後圖南”，莊周用汪洋恣肆、氣勢磅礴的筆調，描寫了一隻氣勢磅礴的巨鳥。出水為鵬,入水為鯤。不知太平洋能否容得下鯤。
