商業區是指零售商業聚集，交易頻繁的地區辦公區。商業區一般在大城市中心、交通路口、繁華街道兩側、大型公共設施周圍。 在大城市和特大城市商業區又劃分為中央、區和街等不同層次、規模的商業區。在中央商業區又逐漸形成了中央商務區，其中心為規模較大的銀行、保險公司和財務公司組成的金融“核”或金融中心；其外邊為規模較大的工業、商業企業的總部或機構；再外邊是為這些核心公司及其辦公機構提供會計、律師、諮詢、廣告、經紀、市場顧問等服務的公司。
