連雲港，江蘇省下轄地級市，古稱海州，地處江蘇省東北端，東瀕黃海，與朝鮮、韓國、日本隔海相望，北與山東日照市接壤，西與山東臨沂市和江蘇徐州市毗鄰，南連江蘇宿遷市、淮安市和鹽城市。截至2022年，下轄3個區、3個縣，土地面積7615平方公里，海域7516平方公里，全市常住人口460.05萬人；全年實現地區生產總值4005.03億元。連雲港市地勢由西北向東南傾斜，屬溫帶季風氣候，境內已探明礦產資源49種，其中非金屬礦產33種、金屬礦產11種、能源及水氣礦產5種。曾獲得全國綠化模範城市、2019亞太綠色港口等榮譽稱號。 截至2022年，全市共有普通高等學校5所，幼兒園576所，各類衛生機構2799個，各類衛生機構擁有床位數28778張，衛生技術人員33776人。 清雍正二年（1724），海州升為直隸州，統州治及贛榆、沭陽二縣，相當於今連雲港區、贛榆縣、東海縣、沭陽縣、灌雲縣、灌南縣、響水縣。民國元年（1912年），改海州直隸州為東海縣；1912年4月，析縣境東部11鎮設定新縣灌雲縣。1935年國民政府將東海、灌雲各劃出一部分成立連雲市，為江蘇省第三個省轄市和全國較早的省轄市。1961年10月1日，新海連市面向連島、背倚雲臺山，因港得名改連雲港，1962年升為江蘇省轄市。
