　　： Never Give Up

　　“If I could reach higher, just for one moment to touch the sky…”---this is from my favorite song Reach.

　　When we are appreciating the passionate melody of Gloria Estefan, we could hardly imagine that she could return to the stage after her paralysis. In the year 1990, this Cuban singer was knocked down in a traffic accident, and the doctor declared that she might never walk again. But Gloria did not give up and kept up constant exercising. Just one year after the disaster, she stood up again and presented this encouraging song at the Atlanta Olympics.

　　Whenever I think of Gloria, I can’t help recalling my memory seven years ago, when I first entered university. Naturally shy, ordinary looking, average scores in study, just like an ugly duckling, I seemed to be the least outstanding one in my class. And the successive failures in the beginning led me into despair. “Am I destined to take the back seat to others?” Unwilling to submit to the fate, I paid more efforts on my study as well as many other activities, film dubbing, recital, drama… cause I just want to catch every little opportunity to prove myself. Constant effort yields sure success. Thanks to the competition, I received some awards and most of all, I gained the courage and confidence to face any difficulties in my life journey.

　　Life is just like farming, and what you can reap depends a lot on your sowing and dedication. Once you have a dream, don’t be hesitant. Your next difficult step may be the one to the top. Keep going forward, even in the toughest time, and never give up.

　　當我們在欣賞葛羅莉亞·伊斯特芬那充滿激情的旋律，我們很難想象她能從癱瘓中回到舞臺。1990年這個古巴歌手遭遇車禍，醫生說她可能再也沒辦法走路了。可是葛羅莉亞並沒有放棄希望，堅持做恢復訓練。在災難後僅僅一年，她又站起來了，並且在亞特蘭大奧運會上唱響了這首鼓舞人心的歌曲。

　　每當我想起葛羅莉亞的時候，我禁不住回憶起七年前我剛進入大學的時候。天性害羞，相貌平平，成績一般，就像一隻醜小鴨，我是班上最不起眼的一個。而且在剛開學時一連串的失敗讓我陷入絕望。“難道我註定要給別人當配角嗎?” 不願意向這個命運屈服，我更加努力的學習並且參加許多其他的活動，電影配音、朗誦、戲劇…因為我想抓住任何一個微小的機會來證實我自己。不懈的努力終會帶來成功。我從競賽中獲得了一些獎勵，最重要的是，我從中得到了面對人生一切困難的勇氣和決心。

　　生活就像是耕耘，一份耕耘一份收穫。一旦你有了夢想，不要猶豫。你艱難的下一步也許就是通往成功的階梯。即使在最困難的時候也要勇往直前，決不放棄。

　　： My hobby

　　My hobby is fishing. I am fond of going fishing, for it is both interesting and iastructive-It tempers my willpower. Last Sunday I went fishing with my friend, He Ping. We started at daybreak. After three hours' cycling, we arrived at the outskirts of Hefei and came to a stream. The water is clear and clean. One can see fish swimming. The meadow sprinkled with buttercups slopes to the stream. It is a good place for fishing.

　　In a few minutes everything was ready. Putting the bait of earthworms on the hook, dropping the hue into the strum, we sat there fishing with rod in hand. An hour passed. I did not catch a single fish. I lifted the fishing rod time and again. Time and again I was disappointed. There was no fish on the hook. On the other side of the stream, He Ping had caught several fish, one of which was very big.

　　"How comes it that you catch fish casily while it is so difficult for me?" I asked.

　　"it's easy. Only you need Io be patient." He Ping answered. "Make sure that you lift the fishing rod when the whole flat has sunk. I'm sure a fish will greet you on the hook."

　　After a while the floats were swinging. I kept my breath and waked. The floats became still again. "Come on my hook, dear fish." I was saying to myself. In a moment the floats swang again and then sank abruptly, Just at that moment I lifted my fishing rod. To my delight I caught a fish. Grlnning, I took it off the hook.

　　This gave me a great revelation啟示:Stamina毅力 is what we need to achieve success. And it is more important to young people who usually lack it.

　　我的業餘愛好

　　我的業餘愛好是釣魚。它不僅有趣，且有意義——它磨鍊我的意志。

　　上星期天，我和朋友何平去釣魚。黎明時動身，騎了3小時自行車後，來到達合肥郊區的一條小溪邊。溪水又清又淨，能看見魚在水裡遊。撤滿草茛的草地傾斜著伸向小漠。那是個釣魚的好地方。

　　幾分鐘後，一切準備就緒。把釣餌魚蟲放在鉤上，並將直線垂入溪中，手握釣竿等在那兒垂釣。1小時過去了，我一條魚也沒釣著，不時地提起釣竿，一次又一次地失望，無魚上鉤。而溪對面何平已釣了好幾條魚，其中還有1條是大魚呢。

　　“怎麼你釣魚那麼容易，而對我卻那麼難?”我問道。

　　“這並不難。只是需要耐心。”何平答道：“一定要等浮子全沉下後再舉起釣竿，魚就在鉤上歡迎你了。”

　　過了一會兒，浮子在晃動。我屏住氣在等待，浮子又不動了。“親愛的魚兒，快上鉤。”我自言自語。一會兒，浮子又動了，接著突然下沉。正在此時，我舉起了釣芊。我喜出望外地釣到了一條魚，笑咪咪地把魚取下了鉤。

　　這件事給了我極大的啟示：成功需要毅力。過對缺乏毅力的年輕人更為重要。

　　：A Young Idler,An Old Beggar

　　Almost everyone knows the famous Chinese saying：A young idler，an old beggar. Throughout history，we have seen many cases in which this saying has again and again proved to be true.

　　It goes without saying that the youth is the best time of life，during which one's mental and physical states are at their peaks. It takes relatively less time and pains to learn or accept new things in a world full of changes and rapid developments. In addition，one is less likely to be under great pressure from career，family and health problems when young. Therefore，a fresh mind plus enormous energy will ensure success in different aspects of life.

　　Of course，we all know：no pains，no gains. If we don't make every effort to make good use of the advantages youth brings us，it is impossible to achieve any goals. As students，we should now try our best to learn all the subjects well so that we can be well prepared for the challenges that we will face in the future.

　　少壯不努力,老大徒傷悲

　　幾乎所有人都知道中國有一句老話:少壯不努力,老大徒傷悲.通過閱讀歷史,我們從一個又一個的案例當中得知,這句話被證實是真確的.

　　不用說都知道,在青年時期,人的智力和身體狀況都是一生中最好的,這也是一個人一生中最好的時期.在這個處處都不停地轉變,飛快地發展的世界裡,年輕使人相對地用更少的時間去學習和領悟新知.在這時,很少人會困在從事業上來的壓力下,家庭和健康問題也比較小就是說不是沒有--譯者.所以,一個清醒的腦袋加上巨大的能量就會成就人生中不同方面的成功.

　　當然,我們都知道:沒有挫折就沒有獲得.如果我們沒有好好努力去利用年輕帶給我們的優勝之處,那就沒有可能獲得任何的成功.作為中學生,我們應該做到最好去學好每一個科目,這樣的話,我們就可以為將來即將面對的挑戰做好準備.

　　：I love English

　　When I was seven, I started learning English. I played games and sang English songs with other children. Sometimes, I watched English cartoons. It's funny. Then I discovered the beauty of the language, and began my colorful dream in the English world.

　　I hope I can travel around the world someday. I want to go to America to visit Washington, because my cousin is over there. Of course, I want to go to London too, because England is where English language developed. If I can ride my bike in Cambridge University, I will be very happy.

　　I hope I can speak English with everyone in the world. Also I'll introduce China to them, such as the Great Wall, and the gardens in Suzhou. I will teaching people of the world about the beautiful language of our country.

　　I like the English language. To learn English is wonderful. I once wanted to be an English teacher . I also like Chinese literature. When I was really young, I was able to remember lots of poems. I also wanted to be a teacher of Chinese. Now I think that both of my dreams can come true: I will be able to use English to teach foreign friends Chinese and share Chinese culture with them. So that more and more people will be able to get to know the 5000 years' history culture, and the prosperity of our great China.

　　當我七歲的時候，我開始學習英語。我與其他兒童一起打遊戲和唱英語歌曲，。有時候，我會觀看英語卡通片。它很有趣。接著我發現語言的美麗，開始了我在英語世界裡豐富多彩的的夢。

　　我希望總有一天我能夠在世界各地旅遊。我要到美國華盛頓訪問，因為我的表哥是在那裡。當然，我要到倫敦，因為英國是英語語言的發源地。如果我能在劍橋大學騎上我的自行車，我會很高興的。

　　我希望我能夠與世界上每一個人說流利的英語。同時，我對他們來介紹一下中國，如長城和蘇州園林。我會教世界人民瞭解我們國家美麗的語言。

　　我喜歡英語。學英語實在是太好了。曾經我想成為一名英語教師。我也喜歡中國文學。當我年輕的時候，我能記住大量的詩歌。我也想成為一名教師的中文。現在我認為我的夢想可以成真：我將能夠使用英語教外國朋友中文和與他們分享中華文化。使越來越多的人們將能夠結識五千年的歷史文化，繁榮我們偉大的中國。
