　　一、我的暑假

　　My summer vacation of this year was very enjoyable. I went to the countryside to spend my summer holidays. It is very beautiful there. There are green plants, clear rivers, lovely animals and kind people. I spent two weeks helping my grandfather do some farm work there. I wrote down what happened in my diary every day.

　　Besides that, I helped the children in the neighbourhood with their lessons. I helped them read English and improve their spoken English. Their parents thanked me for this.

　　今年的暑假生活非常愉快。我去農村過暑假。那兒非常美麗，有綠色的植物，清澈的小河，可愛的動物和善良的人們。在那裡的兩週中我幫爺爺幹了些農活。每天我在日記中記下所發生的事情。

　　除了這些，我還幫助鄰居家的孩子做功課。我幫他們讀英語，使他們的口語有所提高。他們的父母為此很感激我。

　　There once was an impatient farmer who lived during the Song Dynasty.sòng cháo,960-1279 AD.

　　春秋時代，宋國有個急性子的農夫。

　　Everyday the anxious farmer would measure the growth of the crops.

　　莊稼長出禾苗以後，他每天都去觀看。

　　To his dismay, his crops were growing much slower than he expected.

　　令他沮喪的是，禾苗長得太慢。

　　The farmer racked his brains trying to find better ways of planting in order to get quickerresults.

　　農夫絞盡腦汁想讓禾苗長快些。

　　One day he finally came up with a solution.

　　一天他終於想出方法。

　　He started to physically pull the crops out of the ground, thus making them taller.

　　他跑到田裡，把禾苗一顆顆往上拔，使它們長高。

　　The farmer worked very hard and at day’s end was physically exhausted but mentally happy as his plan had produced the desired results.

　　農夫雖然很累但他很高興看到禾苗長高。

　　When the farmer went home, he told his son of his “brilliant” method.

　　當農夫回家時，把這個好辦法告訴了他兒子。

　　His son went to the field only to discover that all of his crops were all dead.

　　他的兒子趕忙跑到田裡去看，禾苗全都枯萎了。

　　三、英語小笑話

　　The preacher was vexed生氣的 because a certain member of his congregation集會，聖會 always fell asleep during the sermon.

　　As the man was snoring in the front row one Sunday, the preacher determined he would teach him not to sleep during the sermon. So, in a whisper, he asked the congregation. "All who want to go to heaven, please rise." Everyone got up except the snorer. After whispering "Be seated", the minister shouted at the top of his voiced, "All those who want to be with the devil, please rise."

　　Awaking with a start嚇一跳 , the sleepy-head jumped to his feet and saw the preacher standing tall and angry in the pulpit講道壇 , "Well, sir," he said, "I don't know what we're voting on, but it looks like you and me are the only ones for it."

　　牧師非常生氣，因為總有一個人在他說教時打瞌睡。

　　一個星期天，正當坐在前排的那個人又在瞌睡時，牧師決定要好好教育他一下，讓他不要再在佈道時睡覺。於是他低聲對信徒們說：“想去天堂的人，都請站起來吧。”所有的人都站了起來——當然，除了那個打瞌睡的人。在低聲說過請坐後，牧師高聲喊道：“想去下地獄的人請站起來!”

　　打瞌睡的人被這突然的喊叫聲驚醒了，他站了起來。看到牧師高站在教壇上，正生氣的看著他。這個人說道：“噢，先生，我不知道我們在選什麼，但看上去只有你和我是候選人。”
