  :處事方法A—B—C

As an airport skycap checked through a customer at curbside, he accidentally knocked over theman's luggage.

He quickly collected the fallen bags and apologized for the mishap. Unappeased, the travelerburst into an angry tirade, raging and swearing at the skycap for his clumsiness.

Throughout the traveler's rant, the baggage handler simply apologized and smiled. The angryman continued to berate the skycap, until he finally headed off to catch his plane.

Even then the baggage handler remained calm and passively smiled.

The next customer in line witnessed the incident and marveled at the skycap's professionalismand control.

"I have never seen such restraint and humility," he said. "How do you keep your cool whensomebody is attacking you so viciously?"

"It's easy," the skycap answered. "He's going to Denver, but his bags are going to Detroit."

That is certainly ONE way of managing attitudes, but here is a more constructive approach.Have you heard of the A-B-C method of managing your attitude? It's simple and effective.

"A" stands for the "Activating Event." Let's say you get stuck in traffic. The traffic jam is theactivating event.

"B" stands for your "Belief System." You believe that traffic is only getting worse and you'll havemore and more days like this ahead.

"C" stands for the "Consequence of the Event." You become angry. You want to honk yourhorn. Your stomach is tied in knots and you bang the dashboard with your fist.

The problem is...most people jump directly from "A" to "C." They get stuck in traffic and becomeangry. They think the traffic jam made them upset. They don't realize that they didn't HAVE toget angry. They skipped an important step!

  Let's try it again:

"A" - you get stuck in traffic.

"B" - you believe that you were given some unexpected and extra time to spend in solitude,to listen to a great tape or to plan your day.

"C" - the consequence is that you feel gratitude for the gift of time.

I have a friend who is fond of saying, "A traffic jam has no power to make us angry. It juststops our car." He is aware that between the activating event and the consequence issomething that we control: our beliefs about what is happening.

The next time you have a problem -- at home or at work, big or small -- decide to manage yourattitude toward it. Practice the A-B-C method.

You probably can't change "A," the activating event. But try changing "B," your beliefs aboutthe problem. When you change your beliefs, you also change "C," the consequences of thesituation.

It's as simple as A-B-C. Manage your beliefs, and you'll manage to be a lot happier!

A great life doesn't happen by accident. A great life is the result of allocating your time, energy, thoughts, and hard work towards what you want your life to be.?

Stop setting yourself up for stress and failure, and start setting up your life to support success and ease.

A great life is the result of using the 24/7 you get in a creative and thoughtful way, instead of just what comes next. Customize these " secrets" to fit your own needs and style, and start creating your own great life today!

  1. S—Simplify. A great life is the result of simplifying your life. People often misinterpret what simplify means. It's not a way to remove work from your life.

When you focus on simplifying your life, you free up energy and time for the work that you enjoy and the purpose for which you are here. In order to create a great life, you will have to make room for it in yours first.

  2. E—Effort. A great life is the result of your best effort. Creating a great life requires that you make some adjustments. It may mean reevaluating how you spend your time, or choosing to spend your money in a different way.

It may mean looking for new ways to spend your energy that coincide with your particular definition of a great life. Life will reward your best effort.

  3. C—Create Priorities. A great life is the result of creating priorities. It's easy to spend your days just responding to the next thing that gets your attention, instead of intentionally using the time, energy and money you have in a way that's important to you. Focus on removing the obstacles that get in the way of you making sure you are honoring your priorities.

  4. R—Reserves. A great life is the result of having reserves—reserves of things, time, space, energy, money. With reserves, you acquire far more than you need-not 6 months living expenses, but 5 years worth; not 15 minutes of free time, 1 day. Reserves are important because they reduce the fear of consequences, and that allows you to make decisions based on what you really want instead of what the fear decides for you.

  5. E—Eliminate distractions. A great life is the result of eliminating distractions. Up to 75% of your mental energy can be tied up in things that draining and distracting you. Eliminating distractions can be a difficult concept to many people, since they haven't really considered that there is another way to live. Look around at someone's life you admire. What do they do that you would like to incorporate into your own life ? Ask them how they did it. Find ways to free up mental energy for things that are more important to you.

  6. T—Thoughts. A great life is the result of controlling your thoughts so that you accept and allow for the possibility that it actually can happen to you! belief in the outcome will directly dictate how successful you are. Motivated people have specific goals and look for ways to achieve them. Believing there is a solution to the same old problems you encounter year after year is vitally important creating a life that you love.

  7. S—Start. A great life is the result of starting. There's the old saying everyone's familiar with “a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step” In order to even move from the couch to the refrigerator, you have to start. There’s no better time to start than today. Don't wait for a raise, or until the kids get older or the weather is better. Today, right now, is the right day to start to take a step in the direction of your heart's desires. It's what you do TODAY that will make a difference in your life tomorrow.

The tides advance; the tides recede. Winter goes and summer comes. summer wanes and thecold increases. The sun rises; the sun sets. The moon is full; the moon is black. The birdsarrive; the birds depart. Flowers bloom; flowers fade. Seeds are sown; harvests are reaped. allnature is a circle of moods and I am a part of nature and so, like the tides, my moods will rise;my moods will fall.

Today l will be master of my emotions.

It is one of nature's tricks, little understood, that each day I awaken with moods that havechanged from yesterday.

Yesterday's joy will become today's sadness; yet today's sadness will grow into tomorrow's joy.Inside me is a wheel, constantly tuning from sadness to joy, from exultation to depression, from happiness to melancholy.

Like the flowers, today's full bloom of joy will fade and wither into despondency, yet I willremember that as today's dead flower carries the seed of tomorrow's bloom so, too, doestoday's sadness carry the seed of tomorrow's joy.

And how will I master these emotions so that each day will be productive? For unless my moodis right the day will be a failure.

Trees and plants depend on the weather to flourish but I make my own weather, yea Itransport it with me.

If I bring rain and gloom and darkness and pessimism to my customers then they will reactwith rain and gloom and darkness and pessimism and they will purchase naught.

If I bring joy and enthusiasm and brightness and laughter to my customers they will react withjoy and enthusiasm and brightness and laughter and my weather will produce a harvest ofsales and a granary of gold for me.

And how will I master my emotions so that every day is a happy day, and a productive one?

I will learn this secret of the ages: Weak is he who permits his thoughts to control his actions;strong is he who forces his actions to control his thoughts.

Each day, when I awaken, I will follow this plan of battle before I am captured by the forces ofsadness, self-pity and failure-

If I feel depressed I will sing.

If I feel sad I will laugh.

If I feel ill I will double my labor.

If I feel fear I will plunge ahead.

If I feel inferior I will wear new garments.

If I feel uncertain I will raise my voice.

If I feel poverty I will think of wealth to come.

If I feel incompetent I will remember past success.

If I feel insignificant I will remember my goals.

Henceforth, I will know that only those with inferior ability can always be at their best, and I amnot inferior.

There will be days When I must IN THE WORLD constantly struggle against forces which wouldtear me down.

Those such as despair and sadness are simple to recognize but there are others whichapproach with a smile and the hand of friendship and they can also destroy me. Against them, too, I must never relinquish control:

If I become overconfident I will recall my failures.

If I overindulge I will think of past hungers.

If I feel complacency I will remember my competition.

If I enj oy moments of greatness I will remember moments of shame.

If I feel all-powerful I will try to stop the wind.

If I attain great wealth I will remember one unfed mouth.

If I become overly proud I will remember a moment of weakness.

If I feel my skill is unmatched I will look at the stars.
