來，讀作lái，屬於常用字。象形字，在甲骨文中像一棵小麥的形狀，金文大同。隸變後寫作“來”。本意是指小麥，《詩經·周頌·思文》：“貽我來牟，帝命率育。”假借為由另一方面到這一方面，與“往”、“去”相對如:來回、來往、過來，又引申為表示“從過去到現在”、“現在以後，未到的時間”之意等等。
