偵探 (全稱：偵緝探查，英語：Detective) 是負責調查案件的職業。指負責調查的調查員（investigator），意思可以是刑警或私家偵探。前者是專門負責調查及偵破刑事案件的警察。後者則是透過私人委託，為僱主調查婚外情、尋人、尋找機密、包括私人委託偵破刑事案件等的事情。
