中部，指的是中國中部地區，包括河南、湖北、湖南、安徽、江西、山西六個相鄰省份。截至2017年底，中部地區國土面積約102.8萬平方公里，生產總值約17.94萬億元，人均生產總值約4.87萬元。 中部地區是我國的人口大區、經濟腹地和重要市場，在中國地域分工中扮演著重要角色。由於我國幅員遼闊，中部六省雖然同處北南走向的中部位置，然而語言文化、風俗都有相當大的差異：江西、湖南、湖北、安徽（南部）接近，安徽（北部）、河南、山西接近。 2021年5月11日，中國第七次全國人口普查結果公佈。中國人口中，中部地區佔25.83%，與2010年相比，中部地區下降0.79個百分點。
