考古學是普通高等學校本科專業，屬於歷史學類專業，學制4年，授予歷史學學士學位，專業程式碼060103。 該專業培養具有考古學基本理論和基礎知識，能在國家機關、考古、文物、博物館等文教企事業單位或領域從事研究、教學和管理等方面工作的考古學複合型人才。 主要課程有：《中國考古學》《外國考古學》《考古學史》《田野考古學》《考古學技術》等。 該專業考研方向有文物與博物館、科學技術史、建築學、科學技術史。 1952年，北京大學歷史系正式設立考古學專業，成為中國國內第一所招收考古專業本科生的高校。

考古學

考古學（Archaeology），屬於人文科學的領域，在中國是歷史科學的重要組成部分，世界其他國家多從屬於人類學，也有劃歸藝術史的。因此，考古學研究的基礎在於田野調查發掘工作。考古學的產生有長遠的淵源，但到近代才發展成為一門科學。古學發祥於歐洲，以後普及到世界各國。北宋以來的金石學是中國考古學的前身，但直到20世紀20年代，以田野調查發掘工作為基礎的近代考古學才在中國出現。
