  我懷著異樣的心情走出維德勒圖書館,深情地望著正沐浴在燦爛陽光下的哈佛校園。哈佛的塑像屹立於舊校園的牆前。路上的行人,不見濃妝,沒有豔服,只有匆匆的腳步;湖邊、樹下、草坪上,到處是學子們讀書、做記錄、思考問題的情景。

  哈佛佔地154公頃,沒有現代化的高樓大廈,隨處可見用新英格蘭紅磚建築的圖書館。哈佛人愛書如命。可以說,在哈佛大學每個人就是一座圖書館。

  哈佛的博士每天要啃3本大書,還得嚮導師交上頗具獨到見解的閱讀報告。英國一家電視臺曾做過一個題為《凌晨四點半》的專題節目,內容反映的是,在一個普通的凌晨4點半,哈佛圖書館內座無虛席,已經坐滿了靜靜地看書、認真做筆記、積極思考問題的哈佛學子……

  我在哈佛大學旁的旅館住了下來,決定親自目睹一下哈佛校園的凌晨4點半。

  第二天凌晨4時剛過,我再一次來到哈佛校園。美麗的校園沉靜於晨光曦色中,湖邊、路邊,許多學子正在聚精會神地晨讀。走進哈佛大學圖書館,只見每間閱覽室都燈火通明,每個座位上都坐著看書的學子……
